Happily,
Most Love is Blind
When Alexander the Great became world conqueror, it was decided that his portrait should be painted by the finest artist in the realm.

The artist was told that Alexander was insisting on a full-faced pose rather than a profile. This bothered him because one side of the general’s face was disfigured by a hideous scar.

After some consideration, the artists thought of a way to cover the blemish. He seated Alexander at a table. Placing the General’s elbows on the table, he had him cup his chin in his hand. He arranged the fingers in such a way that they completely hid the scar. The artist then went to work and produced a flattering likeness of Alexander.

Wouldn’t’ it have been strange if the artist had painted that scar into the portrait-and made it look much worse than it really was?

In effect, that’s what we sometimes do, when we blow a person’s faults out of proportion!

We all have our scars, ugly and unsightly. Isn’t it good that our friends have developed that spirit of live that they cover those scars and paint flattering portraits of us?

That person may have many find qualities, but if there’s one thing about that person that we don’t like, we tend to make that flaw the whole portrait.

It minimizes weakness and magnifies strengths. “Love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

That’s they way it is with true love.

My friends, the one great need in each of our lives is love, more love to God and to each other.
