The abridged version of this grammar was published in 1892 as Appendix 8 of Threlkeld's "An Australian language as spoken by the Awabakal.." which is available on-line as part of "The Virtual Coquun - Hunter River Project".
The pronunciation guide below should be compared with the modern orthography used in the Noongar prounciation guide. Symmons does not recognise the consonants -ny-, -ly-, -rn-, -rl-, -rt- , but uses the â to indicate short vowels, long vowels being an indication of one of these consonants. He recognises -ng at the end of words but tends to use y- where ng- begins a word.
