| Exciting and innovative five-piece band Midnight Mahina
hails from the south coast of Western Australia. The group is a wonderfully creative combination performing exclusively original music in their own distinctive style. They have been entertaining audiences in the south-west since 2000, through their live shows and the refreshing sound of their CDs - the self-titled Midnight Mahina released in 2001 and Odd Sock released in 2004.
The band produce a warm, rich and energetic sound and have developed an eclectic repertoire that combines tastes of celtic, latin, classical, eastern european, calypso, funk, reggae and blues music. Midnight Mahina's style is unique, as two melody instruments combine with a rhythm section and full vocal harmonies. This gives the group a driving big band sound that is enticing to all ages and makes dancing hard to resist! Alternatively the group can perform in a concert situation or is equally at home playing outdoor festivals or fairs. Their sound has been described as "crisp and clear as a moonlit night on the cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean."
