The HMAS Perth
is planing to be sunk 300m west of seal island in approximately 38.8 meters
of water, at a location called seal hole. Seal hole has basically no marine
life and it is hoped that the sunken HMAS Perth will attract marine creatures,
and eventually turn into a marine colony. There is going to be a coastal care
program put in place to monitor the maritime colony.
The diving experience of the HMAS Perth can be experienced by almost anyone from snorkels; through to wreck penetration divers and technical decompression dives. The HMAS Perth will cater for all skill levels. For more information on Scuba Diving in HMAS Perth or diving in general can be found at one of Albany's fine scuba diving schools…

The HMAS Perth is currently being stripped and prepared for the sinking which is expected to take place in approximately fourteen to fifteen months.
Although the Perth is not actually an artificial reef yet it is expected to appear like the other dive wrecks located around Albany.
